Praising God Through Music, Song and Drama

Music bells

Handbell Ringers

This all-volunteer adult ensemble performs approximately once a month, October through April, at both services.  The handbells rehearse on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.  Previous musical experience is needed to join this group.  For more information contact the Music Director via the church office.

Instrumental Music

Instrumental music is a significant part of our worship, especially during the holidays, and at our more contemporary 9:45 service. We also add short dramatic skits from time to time to enhance the creativity of our worship. Performers of all ages who have an interest or passion for musical worship are invited to contact our Music Director so we can put your talents to work in one of our dynamic worship experiences.

Music for Youth

St. Johns encourages and enjoys spotlighting younger musical talent. Children from pre-school through college have opportunities to perform several times a year, especially during the holidays, or by special request and invitation. For more information, please contact our Music Director or directors of children’s and youth ministries via the church office.

Our Director of Music & Worship

Megan Marshall joined staff at St. John’s UCC in January of 2022. Her passion for singing and choral music led her to obtain a degree in Music Education (Lawrence University) as well as a master’s degree in Choral Conducting (Northern Illinois University). Her love for worship led her to use her skills and training for the church for the past 30 years. Megan leads the praise band, choir, hand bell choir; and assists in coordinating many other elements of worship at St. John’s. She enjoys residing in the south suburbs after “migrating” from the west suburbs in 2019. She has a beagle mix named Choral and a cat named Moses. Megan is blessed with two incredible daughters who bring her joy every day!
